Seminole County Public Schools is pleased to offer Summer Opportunities for 2026. Space is limited, but please be sure to read through all the information below prior to submitting an application.
High School Summer Course Options
- Students who attend a school on an approved SCPS transfer option may attend Summer School at their zoned school (or nearest high school).
- Daily student attendance is expected to receive credits in all Summer School courses. The principal has the authority to withdraw a student from Summer School due to non or poor attendance.
- Discipline problems will not be tolerated during Summer School. Students with discipline problems will be subject to possible dismissal from Summer School. Students are expected to adhere to the Seminole County Student Conduct and Discipline Code rules and regulations during summer school.
HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
SUMMER SCHOOL 2026: CREDIT RECOVERY
- Student Eligibility: Summer School Credit Recovery is available to students who previously earned a semester grade of a “D” or an “F” in an academic high school course.
- Summer School Campus Locations & Dates:
- Hagerty HS, Winter Springs HS, Lyman HS
- June 1-11, 2026 (Monday-Thursday): 7:20am-1:05pm
- Lake Mary HS
- Lake Mary HS will be open for students June 1-11 but will also be open for any students who need additional time to complete coursework after June 11, 2026.
- June 1-25, 2026 (Monday-Thursday): 7:20am-1:05pm
- Hagerty HS, Winter Springs HS, Lyman HS
- Enrollments for Summer School will be limited. Priority will be given to students based on the following:
- Class of 2026
- Class of 2027
- Students needing to recover credit due to an “F”
- Students needing to utilize grade forgiveness due to earning a “D”
- Those who are not initially offered a Summer School seat will be placed on a waiting list. When a seat becomes available, the school staff will contact the family.
- Registration: Register Online. Deadline: April 10, 2026
DRIVER EDUCATION: SUMMER 2026
Driver Education will be offered only through Seminole County Virtual School, in partnership with the Florida Safety Council.
- Student Selection & Eligibility:
- Students do not need to have their learner’s permit to enroll in the course.
- Students must be eligible for high school enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year and must not have graduated.
- Summer Course Delivery Model
- Online Coursework: Enrollment is open throughout the summer. Students may request a start date that best meets their schedule; however, they should consider the course taking approximately. 8 weeks to complete.
- Behind-the-Wheel Instruction: Once the online course is completed, students will receive information on how to schedule the 2-hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with our community partner, the Florida Safety Council. Students will have 90 days to complete the Behind the Wheel Instruction. Please note that FLVS courses do not qualify for Behind the Wheel Instruction.
- State Requirements & Certificates:
- Earn ½ credit high school elective.
- Complete the required Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) training.
- Meet the new Florida State Requirements for Learner’s Permit.
- While there is no age requirement for the course any longer, it is best practice for the student to be near the age of 15 to obtain the information and earn their Learner’s Permit.
- Cost:
- All portions of the Driver Education program are FREE for current SCPS students.
- Registration:
- Students who already have a virtual account with SCVS/FLVS: Login to SCVS/FLVS and select Driver’s Education to add to your backpack with ‘Seminole County’.
- Students who do not already have a virtual account with SCVS/FLVS: Setup your account.
- Visit the SCVS website for additional Driver Education information with SCVS.
SEMINOLE COUNTY VIRTUAL SCHOOL - SUMMER 2026
Seminole County Virtual School (SCVS) courses will not be offered during the Summer of 2026, with the exception of Driver’s Education. We recognize that this is a significant change for students and families. Here is some basic information outlining the transition.
- Students interested in virtual summer courses should register by May 1 with FLVS.
- Please note that enrollment with FLVS is based on availability and some courses may not be offered.
- Current active SCVS students should review the emails sent by SCVS for directions on transitioning to FLVS for any courses not completed by May 28.
SCVS will be communicating with families of students that are already enrolled or have previously registered. Please continue to monitor your email for additional details.
